Bozeman’s own symphony orchestra continues is new season with a pair of vivid performances late this month, following two family friendly presentations in early February.
First up, Bozeman Symphony’s Free Family Concert returns with The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra on Saturday, February 11th with performances at 10:30am and 1pm. Both will be held at the Willson Auditorium.
Designed specifically for children ages 5-12, this educational concert will be fun for the whole family! Music Director Norman Huynh will take the audience on a tour through Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, music from Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Stravinsky’s Firebird, and a preview of composer-in-residence Scott Lee’s The Fire Beneath, which celebrates Yellowstone’s 150th anniversary.
“The Bozeman Symphony has presented free family concerts in the community for 28 years. It is one of the best ways that we can inspire young people to become life-long lovers of symphonic music, and provide a setting for all to experience the Bozeman Symphony,” says Executive Director, Emily Paris-Martin. “Young children in the audience are often inspired to play a musical instrument. It is one way that we fulfill our mission to engage, unite and uplift and it is wonderful to see the direct impact this type of performance has on many different generations.”
Following on February 25th and 26th, Bozeman Symphony will present the third in its classical series, “Firebird & Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5.” Performances will be held at the Willson Auditorium at 7:30pm on Saturday, and 2:30pm on Sunday.
Join the Bozeman Symphony and Concertmaster Carrie Krause for a fiery start to the Classical Series performances in 2023. Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite ends the program with an explosion of power and goodness, igniting a wildfire of musical bliss. The performances will also feature the world premiere of Lee’s The Fire Beneath, celebrating Yellowstone’s 150th anniversary.
