Outdoor recreation is abundant for winter enthusiasts, but there are always opportunities to experience snowy Rocky Mountain adventures from the comfort of the warm indoors. The Livingston Film Series is delighted to present a seasonally inspired screening of documentary Mavericks on Thursday, January 11th. The film begins at 7pm at the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts.
Filmed over four years throughout Montana and Utah, Mavericks tells the fascinating, timeless story of Montana’s freestyle skiing legacy. Stunning visuals from international competitions, archival footage, and original cinematography capture the struggles, victories, unsurpassed work ethic, and unbreakable spirit of some of the state’s most renowned athletes in a sport where seconds determine the outcome of a career.
The film features notable athletes Eric Bergoust, Heather McPhie, Maggie Voisin, Darian Stevens, Bryon Wilson and Brad Wilson, following the sport’s rise in Montana from early competitions in the 1980s through the 2019 FIS World Championships.
Continuing its latest season of screening independent features, documentaries, local films and vintage classics, doors open at 6:30pm with screenings to follow at 7pm. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. Concessions available. For more information, please visit www.theshanecenter.org.
