Verge Theater is thrilled to present a series of shorts, Stand Stark Still, from acclaimed Irish dramatist Samuel Beckett at the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture. Performances run Wednesday through Saturday, August 7th–10th. There will be two performances each day at 6pm and 8pm.
How do we unravel our past? Hold our sense of self? Understand change? Six short plays depict women at varied stages of life – growing older, looking back, experiencing isolation, wondering what is next – how odd it is to exist at all. Beckett creates a world of striking visuals and absurd language to investigate inner transformation. His short shorts are funny, unflinching and grand in their scope. Come experience this set of small masterpieces of modern theater.
Over the course of one evening, the audience will travel with the actors through space encountering the women at varied stages of life. The local cast includes Kiki McMahon, Sharon Beehler, Kate Britton, Julia Shaida, Isabel Shaida and Allison Powell. Directed by Tessa Welsch with movement direction by Isabel Shaida.
Tickets for Stand Stark Still are available for purchase now for a suggested price of $35 with “Pay What You Wish” options. Visit www.vergetheater.com for reservations and further information about educational opportunities for aspiring thespians. •
