Verge amuses w/ return of ‘Comedy Revue,’ family appropriate ‘Balloonacy’
Verge is bringing us into spring with one or two spectacularly fantastic performances for laugh-lovers of all ages! Here’s a look at what’s happening at “The Little Black Box on the Edge (of Bozeman).”
Back by popular demand, Verge’s 8th Annual Comedy Revue is set for March 22nd through April 6th. Roku Like a Hurricane takes over the Little Black Box on Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm. On display will be the players’ idea for the ideal comedy streaming service with hilarious, original, never before seen sketches. In the style of Saturday Night Live, they’ll present their laugh-out-loud show just for you. The actors, writers, and directors of the Comedy Revue include Garrison Choitz, Ty Gardner, Molly Hannan, Emmy Harvey and John Townsend-Mehler. Local, fresh, and funny as hell! Tickets are only $15 in advance, also available at the door at additional cost.
Also at Verge, Silly Moose Comedy Improv gives families extra chances to laugh together. After all, laughter decreases stress hormones. It also increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, improving our resistance to disease. And of course, laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals, giving people an overall sense of well-being. The next show is set for Saturday, March 23rd at 3pm. Tickets are $9 in advance, also available at the door at additional cost.
And for the big kids, the Monday night Improv on the Verge shows are sure to bring about the belly laughs! With a mixture of short-form games (like you see on the popular tv show Whose Line is It Anyway?) and long-form stories, everything you see on stage is created on the spot using audience suggestions. With crowd favorites, the Bozeman Improverts AND some new faces, you won’t want to miss the best way to start your week. Come get cheap thrills for your laugh hole with advanced tickets for only $9, also available at the door at additional cost. Upcoming shows are set for March 25th and April 8th. All performances start at 7pm. Ages 17+.
Toward month’s end, Balloonacy takes over the family stage with weekend matinees March 30th through April 14th. Performances will take place Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 3pm.
Barry Kornhauser’s remarkable play invites audiences to imagine a single balloon changing one person’s life forever. Aimed at families, particularly those with preschool-aged children, Balloonacy is a silly, tender and uplifting show. Packed with physical comedy, this sweet, inventive play explores the power of friendship and shows how, with a little imagination and acceptance, companionship is everywhere. This show has interactive components designed to engage and delight all participants as well as encourage them to develop their resourcefulness. Tickets are $9 in advance, also available at the door at additional cost.
