Big Sky Resort
Big Sky, MT 59716 United States (800) 548-4486
Big Sky Resort passholders have long known the benefits of skiing at Big Sky with uncrowded slopes, long vertical, great terrain and no lift lines. In the November 2002 issue of SKIING Big Sky was ranked as the 8th best ski resort in North America. At Big Sky a long season is guaranteed with snowmaking capacity on over 400 acres combined with over 400 inches of natural snow throughout the year. Big Sky’s season generally opens on Thanksgiving Day and stretches through Easter.
Big Sky actually has three mountains to delight skiers and snowboarders. Lone Mountain is the resort’s signature peak, rising to a lofty 11,166 feet. The Lone Peak Tram takes the adventuresome to its very apex, with 3,812 acres, 4,350 jaw-dropping vertical feet and European-style expert terrain below
Adjacent Andesite Mountain has some the resort’s most notable intermediate cruising runs, some comfortable south-facing beginner trails, several expert tree runs and a giant half-pipe and terrain park. Flat Iron Mountain is on the eastern shoulder of Andesite and offers even more variety.
In the draw between Andesite and Lone Mountains, you’ll find Big Sky’s designated in-bounds snowshoe trail: Moose Tracks.
During summer months, hikers and mountain bikers enjoy the many trails cascading down Lone Mountain’s apron. Access is made easy via the scenic lift ride.
400 inches of annual snowfall. 3,812 acres of skiable terrain, 5,512 acres when combined with Moonlight Basin. 80 miles of named runs. 4350 feet of vertical. A terrain park on one mountain. A half-pipe on the other.
“So what?” you say. “Lots of resorts can post big numbers.” True, but they’re missing the roominess of Montana. Vast wild lands. No lift lines. Fresh turns. Yellowstone Park. Friendly locals. This is a place all your own.
Getting here has never been easier. We have direct flights to BZN/Big Sky from Salt Lake, Denver, Detroit, Minneapolis and Seattle, plus connections all over the globe.
We invite you to visit Big Sky this winter.
