Days spent on the river or atop any of the surrounding mountains are known to be some of Montanans’ favorite recreational opportunities, but they also can be exhausting and lead to plenty of wear and tear on our bodies. Plan a weekend trip to Chico Hot Springs for a chance to soak the joints, feast on some delicious grub and enjoy live music in the Saloon. Here’s what’s coming up this month.
Veterans of the local live music scene, Brandon Hale & the Dirty Shame are back at it on July 12th and 13th. The outlaw country band has been a staple of the Montana live music scene for decades, known for their cutting originals and unique spins on songs by the likes of Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash, among others. They released a new album aptly titled The Dirty Shame last summer.
Iowa-based Larry Myer brings his summer tour to Chico on July 14th at 8pm. The energetic singer/songwriter and acoustic performer delivers an aggressive performance that connects with a wide array of audiences.
Performing July 19th and 20th is Montana band SMOKE. Known for their attention to rock n’ roll and grooves, the band will perform a selection of tunes from their audience-tested catalog.
Enjoy the solo stylings of Phillipsburg’s Edwin Johnson on July 21st at 7pm. His performances include an impressive array of genres, from pop and rock, to blues, country and jazz. Met with high praise everywhere he performs, Johnson guarantees his often diverse audience a good time.
Enjoy the swamp rock/boogie blues sounds of Too Slim & The Taildraggers on July 29th at 8pm. Creating an eclectic style of blues and rock that has become a genre all its own, Tim “Too Slim” Langford’s ever-evolving musical direction cannot easily be classified. His group effortlessly cross genres, flavoring blues with rock and Americana, appealing to audiences of varying musical tastes.
