Twin indie folk duo hits Pine Creek ahead of summer openers MarchFourth
Pine Creek Lodge brings Portland-based Shook Twins to its modern-rustic, mountainside space with a one-night-only performance on Friday, May 17th at 8pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 day of show, based on availability.
The indie folk-pop band is fronted by identical twins, Katelyn and Laurie, who serve as the main songwriters. Central to Shook Twins’ sound is their wide range of instrumentation: banjo, acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass, mandolin, electronic drums, face drum (beat-box), glockenspiel, ukulele, banjo-head drumming and their signature Golden Egg. Beautiful twin harmonies, layered upon acoustic and electric instrumentation – coupled with Laurie’s inventive use of percussive and ambient vocal loops, and Katelyn’s re-purposed telephone microphone – set their sound apart, creating a unique and eccentric blend of folk, roots, groove and soul. Their new album, Some Good Lives, released early this year.
Following on Friday, May 24th, a special Girl Guitar Jam will feature talented ladies from near and far – and their guitars. Beginning at 6pm, come enjoy the sounds of Mandy Rowden, Quenby, Heather Lingle and Marcedes Carroll. This is a FREE show.
Midwestern singer/songwriter Lee Henke visits Southwest Montana on Thursday, May 30th with local support from Ira Wolf at 7pm. This FREE show will move to the outdoor Beer Garden Stage, weather permitting.
Always on the road, currently traveling in a 1988 Volkswagen Vanagon, Lee works tirelessly at his crafts. The musician and carpenter is sincerely dedicated to quality and simplicity. With a demand for constant progress, he delivers well-constructed songs and woodworks with an even blend of contour and grit. Following his debut EP, Schema, new single “Take Me to the Movies” released in March.
