SCIENCE ON SCREEN SERIES KICKS OFF!
The Bozeman Film Society has a packed line-up of films this Thursday, March 10th at 7:30 pm in the Ellen Theatre, BFS features The Lady in the Van, based on Alan Bennett’s true story of Miss Shepherd (played magnificently by Maggie Smith), a woman of uncertain origins who “temporarily” parked her van in Bennett’s London driveway and proceeded to live there for 15 years. What begins as a begrudged favor becomes a relationship that will change both their lives. Filmed on the street and in the house where Bennett and Miss Shepherd lived all those years, acclaimed director Nicholas Hytner reunites with Bennett (The Madness of King George) to bring this rare and touching portrait to the screen. The Wall Street Journal’s Joe Morgenstern calls it, “wonderfully funny, terribly touching and a vehicle-with comically-dilapidated-vehicles for the boundless gifts of Maggie Smith.” Rated PG-13 (with a 94% Rotten Tomatoes score), the film runs 105 minutes.
