Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre isn’t only your source for some of the area’s best film and stage performances. It also houses some great musical acts, both local and those coming through town. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.
California Guitar Trio is first up on Wednesday, April 4th at 7:30pm. Their performances are astounding with unparalleled diversity. The group is comprised of Paul Richards from Los Angeles, Bert Lams from Belgium, and Hideyo Moriya from Japan. Together their technical wizardry is breathtaking, as is the wide range of instrumental music the group renders, from unique originals to dazzling, cleverly arranged interpretations. They perform everything from the music of Queen and The Beatles, to that of Bach and Beethoven. The band has released twelve albums since their inception in 1991, and it is their signature to continually surprise the audience with a purposefully diverse repertoire – they’re always adding new material. Tickets are $18.50 or $10.50 for youth 17 and under.
Over the last 25 years, Montana native Wylie Gustafson and his band have performed their refreshing blend of cowboy, swing, folk and yodeling music worldwide. On Thursday, April 12th, Wylie & the Wild West visits Bozeman with a performance at The Ellen. The boys have appeared at such prestigious venues as the National Folk Festival, MerleFest, Bumbershoot Festival, The Stagecoach Festival, as well as A Prairie Home Companion, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and the Grand Ole Opry (more than 50 times!). Tickets are $16.50, and the music begins at 7:30pm. Don’t forget dancin’ shoes as there will be room to kick up yer heels!
