F-11 presents return of ‘Cash for Cameras,’ photo workshops
F-11 Photo’s information and experience-rich classes are ripe with opportunities to get a handle on your devices and interact with knowledgeable instructors. Here’s a look at a few of the upcoming courses and events.
Basic Photo Editing is set for Tuesday, March 20th from 6–8pm. Confounded by your supposedly simple photo editing app? No problem. Sit down with instructor Becca Tatarka to learn the basics for how to take your photo from drab to pop without overdoing it.
Learn proper photo editing workflow, along with essential details like the distinction between local and global adjustments to photos. Begin to develop a personal style while keeping the “dos” and “don’ts” in mind. Experience the difference between ideal and kitschy. Registration is $49.99, and $39.99 for F-11 VIP members.
It’s back! Are you ready for a great trade-up opportunity on your used cameras and lenses? The Cash for Cameras trade-in event with KEH returns to F-11 March 22nd–24th. The three-day event kicks off Thursday by appointment, then from 10am–5pm Friday and Saturday.
It’s easier than ever to turn your cameras into cash or new gear. Drive right up to the front door and drop off your goodies, then hang out and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while you wait for your quote.
KEH is the world’s largest used camera company, so you’ll get top dollar for your clean, used cameras and lenses — and a 10% bonus toward any purchase at F-11 Photo. Got an old iPad? Is it time to upgrade? Get a great trade-in, trade-up value on iPads, too. Further details and trade-in form are available through F-11’s website.
Check out Photos for Mac on Friday, March 23rd from 6–7pm. Get organized and learn how to use Apple’s Photos App on your Mac, iPhone and iPad. Instructor Kendall Roth will give a tutorial on managing your photos and how to share and back up your irreplaceable images with iCloud. She’ll show you how to make your images pop with Photos’ intuitive creative editing tools, plus tag, organize and sync. Registration is $24.99, and $14.99 for F-11 VIP members.
FREE workshop How to Maximize Sharpness with Your Telephoto Lens is set for Saturday, March 24th with two available sessions – the first 10am–noon and the second from 1–3pm.
Learn with a pro! Photographer John Winnie Jr. will share his proven techniques for best results when photographing with a telephoto zoom lens. Find out how you can improve your form and make the most of shutter speed and image stabilization for tack sharp photos. Proper calibration is a critical ingredient – and often the missing link for successful photography with telephoto lenses. Bring your camera and telephoto zoom and be prepared to go outdoors. You’ll see step by step how Winnie calibrates his lenses and then you’ll have a chance to calibrate your own gear. Winnie has been photographing for decades and knows a thing or two about getting the most out of tripods, heads, and remote releases for telephoto lenses.
An award-winning wildlife and landscape photographer, John Winnie Jr.’s work has been published in books, magazines, calendars, posters and postcards, including in Smithsonian, Canadian Geographic, National Wildlife, Discover, Montana Outdoors, Wildlife Conservation, and American Birds magazines. He is the author of High Life: Animals of the Alpine World, and co-photographer of The Rockies: Canada’s Magnificent Wilderness. Photography allows John to merge his appreciation for beauty with gaining and sharing a greater understanding of the natural world.
