Summerfest 2019 gathers at banks of Yellowstone
Celebrating its 20th anniversary event in 2019, this year’s Livingston Summerfest takes place Friday, July 19th in Miles Park. The exciting event features a full evening of live music and family friendly festivities along the majestic Yellowstone River.
With a focus on the community, Summerfest is highlighted by its many Montana food vendors, locally crafted brews and beverages, as well as talented area performers. Kids activities run from 5–7pm with scavenger hunt, face painting, ranger programs, and more. For the adults, sign up your team for the Cornhole Tournament at 6pm. Registration is $30 with cash prizes. Admission to Summerfest is FREE, but donations are happily accepted. Proceeds go directly back into the community. So come one, come all!
Of the excellent local bands featured, Little Jane & the Pistol Whips will perform from 6–7pm. The Americana/country band touches audiences and gets their toes tapping. Led by Ashly “Jane” Holland, The Pistol Whips are Tom “Mando” Murphy (mandolin), Russ Smith and/or Mason Tuttle (bass, vocals), and Mike Singer (banjo). They’ll be performing selections from their album, This Town, in addition to many crowd favorites.
The Fossils step in with a set from 7:30–8:30pm. Known around the area for their authentic hippie music, the band guarantees a rockin’ good time. The members have been acquainted for years and are connected by their love of music. The Fossils are Scott Boehler (harmonica), Rich Ruggles (keyboard), Jerry Mullen (guitar), and Donny Scott (drums).
Area favorite The MAX will again headline from 9–10:30pm. The popular band has entertained and delighted audiences nationwide since the mid-80s, calling Montana home since 1993. With Kyle Brenner (guitar), Mike Young (drums), and Bobb Clanton (bass), The MAX plays spot-on renditions of a wide variety of choice danceable rock n’ roll covers and has two original albums, Shadows in the Shade and Vinyl Valentine. The MAX has opened for Styx, REO Speedwagon, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
DEBBIE will kick off the night of live music at 5pm with a fire dancer and Kowboy Kal entertaining between every set.
