SNL alum takes Emerson stage for night of comedy
Get ready for a night full of laughs when comedian Gilbert Gottfried brings his winter tour to Southwest Montana. The comedy legend will take the stage at the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture on Thursday, March 12th at 7:30pm.
The 18+ show will include an intermission with shot at $10,000 cash or $500 consolation prize. Pizza, popcorn and full bar will be available. General admission tickets are $23 in-store at Cactus Records and www.cactusrecords.net (plus online service fees). Table seating also available. Doors at 7pm.
At 15, Gottfried began doing stand-up at open mic nights in New York City, and after a few short years, became known around town as “the comedian’s comedian.” After spending several years mastering the art of stand-up, Saturday Night Live producers took note and, in 1980, hired him as a cast member. MTV would eventually hire him for a series of improvised and hilarious promos to launch the new channel. He’d then make additional television appearances on The Cosby Show and Late Night with David Letterman.
Gottfried’s work in television soon led to roles in film. He’s appeared in Beverly Hills Cop II, Problem Child and its sequel, Look Who’s Talking II, The Adventures of Ford Fairlane and A Million Ways to Die in the West. He was also the host of the very popular late night movie series “USA Up All Night.”
After his stellar performance as the wise cracking parrot Iago in the Disney classic Aladdin, Gottfried became one of the most recognizable voiceover talents, lending his voice to several commercials, cartoons and movies, including the frustrated duck in the AFLAC commercials. He’s also lent his voice to PBS’ Cyberchase, Comedy Central’s The Annoying Orange, Family Guy, and Lego Batman 3 – Beyond Gotham.
Gilbert has been a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with Seth Meyers, @Midnight with Chris Hardwick and numerous appearances on The Howard Stern Show. He also has had a recurring role on Law & Order: SVU as TARU tech Leo Gerber.
Entertainment Weekly said “out of the 101 comedians who appear on screen, no one is funnier – or more disgusting – than Gilbert Gottfried.” Learn more about the comedian at www.gilbertgottfried.com. •
