‘Run to the Pub’ expands to weeklong virtual race
There’s still time to register for Pub 317’s COVID-style 2021 Run to the Pub! En lieu of the usual thousands running toward a Saturday pint, this year’s event has gone virtual and will take place March 15th–21st.
Participants will be able to run or walk at their leisure throughout the week on a 10k or half marathon course. Once complete, “racers” will have the option to submit their times and see where they would have finished.
Registering for the event earns participants a technical race shirt, but these will be mailed and are not guaranteed to arrive before race week. Creative costumes are still encouraged, along with a refreshing beer at home. Share your pics with the hashtag #RunToThePub to show how you kept the tradition alive!
Run to the Pub began fourteen years ago when one of the owners of Pub 317 motivated a few friends for a St. Patrick’s Day jog that ended with a beer at the bar. The event steadily grew from there, now hosting thousands of racers from all over the map.
Registration for the race, stories posted by former winners of the Dublin trip, and more information can be found at www.runtothepub.com. Please note: there will be no Dublin Marathon drawing or commemorative pint glasses in 2021. •
