Chico presents swamp funk of Rockin’ Jake, the Fossils
A day trip over to Park County will soon lead to floating the Yellowstone and hiking the Absaroka Bearooth. But until those days come, transition into Montana’s favorite months with a weekend getaway to Chico Hot Springs. With fantastic live entertainment in the Saloon every Friday and Saturday night, you can kick up your feet – and soak them too. Here’s a look at what’s headed to the Paradise Valley watering hole.
Hailed by many as one of the premier harmonica players in the country, Floridia-based Rockin’ Jake delivers a special Sunday show on May 12th at 8pm. His original sound is a hybrid of second line, swamp funk, blues and zydeco with influences from Paul Butterfield, Big Walter Horton, James Cotton, The Meters, WAR, J. Geils Band, Clifton Chenier, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Jake and his band pour their souls into every performance with high energy and electricity, consistently bringing the audience to their feet.
The Fossils are back with a pair of performances on Friday and Saturday, May 17th and 18th. Known around town for their authentic hippie music, The band guarantees a rockin’ good time. The members have been acquainted for years and are connected by their love of music. The Fossils are Scott Boehler (harmonica), Rich Ruggles (keyboard), Jerry Mullen (guitar), and Donny Scott (drums).
Chico Saloon music begins at 9pm, unless otherwise noted. Chico Hot Springs is located in Pray, 20 miles south of Livingston. Come sip, soak, and swing! For more information, visit www.chicohotsprings.com. •
