Downtown Bozeman’s Rialto serves as a cultural hub for locals and those visiting our town, and in that spirit, barrels toward summer with a busy calendar. The historic theater continues to bring an exciting lineup of top-tier talent from around the country to its event space(s) this spring. Here’s a look at just a few of the upcoming happenings.
Raison D’être Dance Project presents Noir: A Tantalizing Evening of Dance & Burlesque on Friday, May 24th at 8:30pm. The spectacle will feature dances by Vera Visceral and Nina Tucciarelli alongside special guests Jupiter Everhard and Jodie Fosterchild. Heidi Krutchkoff will emcee and Mark Levy will DJ an after party in the Burn Box following the performances. Proceeds will benefit Raison’s next major project, “Rachmaninov & Plutonia.” General admission tickets to this 18+ event range $20–$25. Doors at 7:30pm.
New Jersey-bred indie group Real Estate are set for a month-ending show on Friday, May 31st at 8:30pm. Tickets to this 18+ show range $25–$35. Doors at 7:30pm.
The five-piece is touring in support of its to-be-released new tunes and latest album, In Mind. The latter, their fourth full-length, is a portrait of a mature band at the height of its power. Long respected for their deft lyrical hand and gorgeous melodies, In Mind builds upon the band’s reputation for crafting perfect songs and carries Real Estate even deeper into the pantheon of great songwriters. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Cole M.G.N. (Beck, Snoop Dogg, Dam-Funk, Nx Worries, and Julia Holter), the album delivers the same kind of warmth and soft-focus narratives audiences have come to expect from the band – pastoral guitars, elegantly deployed arrangements, a sort of mindful melancholy – but with a newly adventurous sonic edge.
A peek at the summer calendar, get ready for performances by neo-folk duo Rising Appalachia, the colorful genre mishmash of Turkuaz, country/rock songstress Nikki Lane, veteran singer/songwriter and performer Steve Earle, plus so many more. Stay tuned for details!
