The Museum of the Rockies at Montana State University will host the inaugural On the Rocks Ice Bar. This indoor and outdoor event will be held at 5:30pm, Thursday, January 18th, to support the educational programs hosted by the museum and is exclusively for those ages 21 and older.
Inside the museum, attendees can explore the history of Rocky Mountain ice harvesting. Ice-harvesting artifacts will be on display and a presentation will occur in the Taylor Planetarium about Montana’s winter skies. Interpreters at the Tinsley House will present on the indispensable role of ice and root cellars in the daily lives of Montana’s early settlers.
The museum’s plaza will feature a carved ice bar and an ice luge. Attendees will have a choice of icy cocktails complemented by hot chili and cornbread.
Tickets to On the Rocks Ice Bar include two drinks, chili, cornbread, hot cider, dessert and educational programs and cost $45 for museum members and $50 for non-members.
Every ticket sold supports the Museum of the Rockies’ educational mission. Since its founding in 1957, the museum has been committed to fostering curiosity and engaging learners of all ages through educational programs, events and outreach efforts exploring science, history and art.
