Then, on Saturday, April 21st, it’s time to get wet and wild at Big Sky Resort’s 2018 Pond Skim. It’s sad the winter ski season is drawing to a close, but this finale event is one of the biggest celebrations of the year. Ski, skim, and soak up the sunshine on the Ambush Headwall near the base of the Mountain Village.
Brave souls dressed in outlandish costumes (encouraged) ski the headwall of Ambush and attempt to skim across a pond of water on their snowboard or skis. Attempted tricks into the pond are always fan-favorites.
Registration is $25 and begins at 10am in front of the Basecamp building in the plaza. The event is limited to 100 registrants. The event is not judged, but the audience indicates favorites with their raucous applause. Skimming begins at 2:30pm. Spectating is free.
The events on April 21st draw hundreds of spectators – so carpooling to the resort is strongly encouraged. Don’t miss out on one of the most fun winter celebrations in Montana! So, get your best spring costume together and do some skimming or come spectate and join the party! It’s time to celebrate an amazing season and party down!
