Nonprofit Conference reinforces Montana’s RESOLVE
Montana Nonprofit Association goes Beyond the “New Normal” to a Reimagined “Better Normal”
Everywhere, MT – For nearly two decades, the Montana Nonprofit Association (MNA) Conference has inspired nonprofit leaders to realize their full potential as champions of the myriad of missions that uniquely promote Montana’s vitality and wellbeing. MNA has innovatively redesigned its 2020 Conference, RESOLVE, to be a dynamic virtual hub for nonprofit education, conversation, and networking from September 21st through the 25th. According to MNA Executive Director Liz Moore, “This event is designed for Montana’s nonprofit community as we all ask how to move our respective missions forward in ways that take Montana beyond the ‘new normal’ to a reimagined ‘better normal’.”
An estimated 1,000 conference goers will have access to more than 40 hours of curated content; four inspiring keynote addresses, 25 illuminating and relevant breakout sessions, five deep-dive learning opportunities, and interactive online networking. And in a unique collaboration with the Red Ants Pants Music Festival, the week’s events include a special concert featuring nine Red Ants Pants Festival favorites celebrating Montana’s grit, determination, and spirit. As a gift to Montanans, the concert is open to any and all at no cost and is not limited to conference attendees.
During the week, four keynote speakers will invite Conference attendees to consider their leadership and practices in the context of the times we are in.
Author and nonprofit guru Joan Garry will speak directly on the topic of leadership in turbulent times. Joan is known and respected by nonprofit leaders across the globe; her monthly podcast, Nonprofits Are Messy, reaches over 100,000 listeners from over 150 countries and is frequently the #1 nonprofit podcast on iTunes.
Internationally respected writer and speaker Vu Le will address the urgent need for boldness in the nonprofit community to meet the challenges we face societally. Known for his writings on trust-based philanthropy, social justice, and fostering collaboration between diverse communities, Vu is a favorite of nonprofit leaders worldwide.
Award-winning broadcaster and a National Humanities Medalist Krista Tippett will invite attendees to consider practices that uphold civility as a response to an increasingly divisive societal rhetoric. Krista created the On Being Project, a weekly podcast which now reaches an estimated 1.5 million listeners, addressing the fundamental questions of what it means to be human, how we want to live, and who we will be to each other.
Closing the conference is Denise Juneau, who is an enrolled member of the Mandan Hidasta tribes and grew up on the Blackfeet Indian reservation. Denise will ask members of the nonprofit community to examine long-held assumptions about indigenous resilience and diversity in Montana. In 2008 Denise became the first American Indian woman elected to a statewide office in Montana; she currently serves as Superintendent of Seattle Public Schools.
