October is smokin’ this fall at The Ellen Theatre! On Saturday, October 1st, it’s the hilarious Double Feature of Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman. Both are Mockumentaries written and directed by Christopher Guest (This is Spinal Tap), and star Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Fred Willard, and Parker Posey. Best in Show screens at 7 PM, followed by Waiting for Guffman at 9 PM. All Seats are $5.
Get in the Groove with the Hot Club of San Francisco, on Thursday, October 6th. An ensemble of accomplished and versatile musicians, the Hot Club of San Francisco celebrates the music of Django Reinhardt, and Stephane Grappelli’s pioneering Qunitette du Hot Club de France, with panache. And don’t forget those dancin’ shoes, as there will be room to skip, jump and jive! The tunes kick off at 8 PM. Adults $24, MSU students and Youth $16.
Then, on Friday, October 7th and Saturday, October 8th, Don’t Close Your Eyes: Live Radio Theatre takes The Ellen stage by storm. The talents of Ryan Cassavaugh and Keith Suta shine brightly in two tales of mystery, intrigue and adventure, all wrapped in side-splitting laughs! The storytelling commences at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $15 for Adults, and $12 for Students/Youth; both the Friday and Saturday show are the same, so it’s two plays for the price of one!
Travel back to the 1980s and the Age of John Hughes with The Breakfast Club, on Thursday, October 13th at 7:30 PM. Reconnect with the Princess, the Athlete, the Brain, the Basket Case and the Criminal for just $5. All moviegoers are encouraged to embrace the era and dress up!
The following evening, Friday, October 14th, Ellen is proud to present a jazz legend for a night of great music, stories and anecdotes. Pianist Monty Alexander met the incomparable Frank Sinatra at the age of eighteen, and since then has had an astounding career, performing with everyone from Sinatra to Count Basie to Judy Garland. Any fan of the swingin’ years wouldn’t dare miss Monty Alexander – His Music, His Story. Tickets are $28, or $32 for Cabaret tables seating, with the performance beginning at 8 PM.
