MT Homegrown features regional musicians Tom Kirwan, Wes Urbaniak
Coupling the talents of regional musicians and the stories behind their originals make for a listening experience unlike any other in the Treasure State. In that spirit, Montana Homegrown Radio continues to collect the best in the (south)west for its online showcase.
Local artist Tom Kirwan is the latest feature. He performs a blend of folk country and Americana. Tom’s songs evoke nostalgia of long-ago dreams and people, while weaving stories of human longing both past and present. Take a listen to his episode now!
Billings-based mountain folk artist Wes Urbaniak visited the Montana Homegrown studio at the top of summer. Referred to as the “musical love child of Tracy Chapman and Mumford & Sons” more than once, Wes makes noise on homemade guitars, beats on them with his hands, and creates amazing music. His 2018 double album, Hippo + Crate / The Adelphos, is available now.
Hosted by local musician Dirk Alan, Montana Homegrown Radio is an online independent musician showcase featuring different area acts with every episode. Presented much like a live broadcast radio show, each hosted episode includes an interview component, discussion, and of course – live music!
Montana Homegrown serves as a promotional space for local talent and their many art forms – and they want YOU! Any musician with a story to tell and a song to sing is encouraged to apply for a guest spot on the podcast.
Visit www.montanahomegrownradio.com to catch up with the fantastic Montana musicians who have been featured thus far, or to submit an application for a future edition. Be sure to keep an eye out for additional guests as they’re announced. •
