Montana State University invites the campus community and the public to celebrate the 8th annual lighting of Montana Hall at 5:30pm on Wednesday, December 6th, on the south side of the building at the Malone Centennial Mall Plaza. Holiday treats and drinks will be provided.
The event will begin with remarks from MSU President Waded Cruzado and continue with a variety of music groups from campus. Champ’s Children’s Choir, a group featuring children from the Child Development Center and the ASMSU daycare, will sing holiday carols. Other performers include the Montanans, the Spirit of the West drumline, the Bobcat Brass Trio, the Spirit Squad and the student body president and vice president from ASMSU.
Since the inaugural lighting of Montana Hall in 2015, the annual tradition has brought the campus and greater Bozeman communities together during the holidays, according to James Tobin, events manager in the president’s office.
“Montana State University is delighted to again host this tradition that brings together our campus community with the Bozeman community and beyond,” Cruzado said. “It’s important to find time to celebrate the strong bond Montana State shares with our friends throughout the Gallatin Valley.”
Built in 1896, Montana Hall is the second oldest building on campus. It houses the president’s office, the registrar and the student accounts office, among others.
“It’s been an exciting and fun tradition that we get to have on our campus. A lot of students and community members talk about the event and look forward to it,” Tobin said. “It’s a great opportunity to bring everyone together for the holidays.”
Free parking will be available on campus in all non-reserved spaces after 4:30 p.m., including the top level of the parking garage. A map of parking lots is online at montana.edu/parking/map.pdf. •
