Alongside its famed Siebel Dinosaur Complex, Museum of the Rockies offers visitors two new changing exhibits to engage with in the new year. Conserving America’s Wildlands: The Vision of Ted Turner opens January 26th. A members-only preview event will be held the evening prior. Here’s a closer look at what’s in store.
Rhett Turner is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker whose photography book, Conserving America’s Wildlands: the Vision of Ted Turner, published by Rizzoli New York, celebrates his father’s historic conservation efforts on twenty-three Turner family properties.
These lands, once totaling over two million acres, range from the Rocky Mountains and Dakota prairies to the foothills and coastal plains of the American Southeast. Turner’s dramatic landscapes and wildlife portraits from these locales illustrate ways in which private land stewardship, practiced for the benefit of native species, and done in an economically sustainable way, can be successful and sustainable.
In coordination with the book, Museum of the Rockies is pleased to present the photography exhibition featuring numerous color prints, made during Turner’s visits to the wilderness areas preserved by his father.
Looking to spring, a second changing exhibit will open to museum-goers with Dragons, Unicorns & Mermaids: Mythic Creatures. The display comes to MOR on May 24th.
Immerse yourself in the origins of legendary beings worldwide, unveiling a mesmerizing showcase of imaginative models, captivating paintings, and rich cultural artifacts. Encounter awe-inspiring, larger-than-life models like the 17-foot dragon and 10-foot unicorn.
