Summer escapes come in many forms and sometimes getting out of the sun is just what the doctor ordered – and Downtown Bozeman’s Eagles Bar is the perfect spot for the sunstruck to recuperate! The seasoned watering hole also features drink specials, Friday night BINGO and burgers, twice weekly karaoke, plus regular live music by solo musicians and local bands. Here’s a look at who’s playing at FOE in the coming weeks.
Country rockers BlueBelly Junction take the stage Friday, July 26th. The group provides audiences with what they consider “rockabilly music” all over the state of Montana. The high-energy band tends to veer away from slow jams, other than the occasional tune. With an arsenal of originals and personalized covers, the guys will keep you on your feet until last call.
Singer/songwriter Joseph Huber brings a special Sunday show on July 28th. Local Americana artist Ryan Acker will get the music started at 8pm. Huber visits Bozeman on the heels of releasing his new album, Moondog. The Wisconsin-based folkster continues moving onward and upward, captivating folks with his sincere and well-crafted songs under his own name along with the impeccable musicianship of his fellow touring partners. Whether it’s irresistible, fiddle-driven, dancing tunes or honest, heart-wrenching ‘songwriter’ songs, Huber’s originals and performances span the spectrum of ‘Roots’ music while preferring not to stay within the boundaries of any strict genre classification.
Closing out the month is Kennedy Richards on Wednesday, July 31st at 8pm. She’s been gigging since the age of sixteen, playing cafés, festivals, and radio shows spanning from Montana’s Pony Bar to breweries in Easthampton, Massachusetts, with influences spanning even further: Jack White, Captain Beefheart, James Booker, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Chuck Berry, and more.
Always a blast, Sunrise Karaoke sets up every Thursday and Saturday night at 9pm this summer. Come sing your heart out and maybe even do a dance number between songs.
Bridger Mountain Big Band performs regularly on Sundays from 7–9:30pm. The 17-piece jazz orchestra celebrates the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and more, with original arrangements and music of all genres from the 1900s to today. Check them out on Facebook for performance announcements.
Head downtown to play a game of pool, listen to some great local bands, or stop in for a cold one any day of the week! The Eagles is located at 316 E Main, next to the Nova Café. •
