I wanted to write to invite you all to come down to the Emerson on Thursday, December 3rd for an event the Doc Series is co-hosting with the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival. We’ll be presenting the Montana premiere of the brand new Janis Joplin biography Janis: Little Girl Blue, and hosting a reception before and after the film in the Emerson lobby. Join us for beer, wine, food and music, and meet the teams behind the Big Sky Doc Fest and Bozeman Doc Series.
The Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, held every February in Missoula, is the largest cinema event in Montana and the premiere venue for non-fiction film in the American West. The festival draws an audience of 20,000 viewers yearly, and receives over 1400 film entries from every corner of the globe. The festival’s Executive Director, Gita Saedi Kiely, and other members of the programming/organizing team will be at the reception. The reception begins at 5:30pm, and will continue in the lobby after the film. We will also be screening an award winning short documentary from this year’s Big Sky festival, Luchadora, before Janis: Little Girl Blue. You can learn more about the event in the attached press release or at the Doc Series website here. Please help us spread the word to anyone you think might be interested. Let us know you’re coming on the event’s Facebook page, and please share it with your friends.
