The Elling House Arts & Humanities Center is pleased to announce the Idaho Old Time Fiddler performance on Saturday, July 8th at 7pm!
“They’ll have you dancing in the aisles as they bust down fiddle tunes and belt out old songs.” That’s how folks describe members of the Idaho Old Time Fiddlers as they entertain audiences young and old with their rich, warm blend of fiddles, guitars, mandolins and banjos. Members of the Idaho Old Time Fiddlers are scattered throughout Idaho, but organized into several districts.

Appearing at the Elling House Arts and Humanities Center in Virginia City, Montana, on Saturday, July 8, at 7 P.M. will be members of District Eight (Idaho Falls area). “We usually do two to three shows a week in Eastern Idaho, all year long,” says lead fiddler Teresa Mortensen, District Eight chairman. Her husband, Monty, is president of the state organization. Idaho Old Time Fiddlers were set in motion in the early 1960s by then-governor Robert E. Smiley, who—along with many others—wanted to promote and perpetuate old-time fiddling. Volunteer members furnish high-energy musical entertainment for retirement centers, church gatherings, and local, county, regional, and state public events. With one foot planted in the past, their sets deliver sizzling old-time fiddle tunes, old songs in harmony, and instrument change-ups. Examples are “Faded Love,” “Red River Valley,” “You Are My Sunshine,” and “Soldier’s Joy.”
This event is open to the public and admission is by donation.
