HRDC Livingston and Community to Host Online Auction to Benefit Shelter Efforts
From Sunday, November 8 to Wednesday, November 18, HRDC’s Livingston office will host an online auction with items donated by the community. This community-organized fundraiser was previously scheduled for March, but was delayed due to COVID-19.
During the last shelter season, 34 unique individuals utilized HRDC’s Livingston Warming Center. Without HRDC’s emergency shelter in Livingston, neighbors in need of shelter would have to drive to Bozeman, some of which may not have adequate transportation to make it. In 2019, HRDC piloted its Livingston Warming Center after the community raised concerns about people experiencing homelessness in the area. Since the beginning of the pilot, fifty individuals have utilized the shelter. In early November, HRDC’s online auction site will be live here.
“As the local HRDC office in Livingston, we get many requests from the community on how to help with our Warming Center. We understand that many people prefer to donate goods or time instead of money. Right now we are not in need of food or clothing donations and this fundraiser seems like a great way for the community to get together to help keep the Warming Center open throughout this season. Heartfelt thanks to everyone stepping up to help make this happen,” says Sonja Wheeler, HRDC’s Livingston Outreach Manager.
