Hey, live music lovers! Pine Creek Lodge is but one scenic drive to Paradise Valley away. The modern-rustic space offers an extensive slate of outdoor shows to keep guests and others entertained through the summer months. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.
Acclaimed singer/songwriter Hayes Carll brings a performance on Friday, July 26th. Fellow songsmith Travis Linville will get the music started on the Main Stage at 7pm. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 day of show, based on availability.
Carll visits Montana in support of his hailed new album, What It Is. The winter-released LP follows 2016’s deeply personal Lovers and Leavers and features 12 dynamic, timely tracks that find him in a wiser phase of life – rejuvenated on a new creative plateau. Carll’s vivid imagery and unique ability to put complex emotions into words makes his music instantly relatable. Spanning from catchy ballads to bold, Texas stomps, What It Is addresses topics ranging from the current socio-political climate to navigating the continuous change of relationships. The new collection of songs weaves intricate and often emotional lyrics with sly political commentary and well-executed, subtle sarcasm, making for some of his most nuanced work yet. The Sleepless Elite are back with a Saturday evening set on July 27th. The Beer Garden show begins at 7pm and is FREE of admission.
Formed in Boston, the now Southwest Montana-based duo consists of Carolina Carter (vocals) and Baylor Carter (drums). Carolina started her career singing in musical theater shows, inspired to find her voice by listening to Paramore, Blondie and Sia. Between her style and Baylor’s Blink-182, Strokes and No Doubt upbringing, the pair forged a sound all their own.
Following on Sunday, July 28th, Portland trio Five Letter Word deliver the melodies. Modern string band Late for the Train will open at 7pm. The Beer Garden show is FREE of admission.
Mix three singer/songwriters, several stringed instruments and a variety of percussive techniques, and you get Five Letter Word. The group blends their signature harmonies into songs from folk to bluegrass to blues and beyond. They draw inspiration from the harmonic tradition of groups like the Wailin’ Jennys, Dixie Chicks and The Wood Brothers. The ladies add their own special flair to create a sound that is uniquely infectious and a show that is delightful, with a few unexpected twists.
Also in Paradise Valley, Pine Creek presents its Brunch Live Music Series. The weekend offering regularly showcases regional musicians from 11am–1pm. Order some food, maybe a cold beverage, then find a spot! Upcoming acts include Maggie Hickman on July 27th and Travis Yost on July 28th. Take your pick and head over! These shows are FREE of admission and open to the public.
