The music never stops at the Filling Station, our readers’ pick for ‘Best Live Music Venue’ in the 2022 “Best of Bozeman” survey. Their concerts showcase artists from a variety of genres, welcoming diverse audiences to the north Bozeman space with performances held throughout the week. Here’s a look at who’s coming up.
Denver-based four-piece Banshee Tree takes the stage with help from Hardwood Heart on Feb. 10th at 9pm. The Centennial State string band serves up exploratory bluegrass, rock, jazz and Americana. The group is on tour in support of its self-titled debut studio release.
Nostalgicana Gen X group Hair Train Awesome fronts the inaugural Heartbreaker’s Ball on Feb. 11th. The Great American Heroes open the 9pm show. Move and groove to a soundtrack of ‘70s–80s pop and hair metal featuring this six-piece novelty project. This inaugural event is a place to cement your love addictions and fatal attractions!
Gather ‘round for the welcome return of the Tom Cook Band to the Filler stage on Feb. 16th. Ornery Jacks and Love Darts will also be on hand for the 9pm show. Cook is a vocalist and guitarist who’s performed around the Gallatin Valley for decades, known for his Americana punkabilly rock and crowd-pleasing originals.
Helena-based trio Beat Deaf perform Feb. 17th with opening support by Horn Bread at 9pm. They’re known for their “vaguely folkish alterna-rock” originals and select covers. Each of the band members come from very different backgrounds and musical tastes, making for an exciting musical fusion.
Old school metal band Stranded by Choice take the stage Feb. 18th with help from Battle Stations and Scavenger at 9pm. With a thick dual guitar sound and a simplistic yet powerful approach to their song writing, the four-piece creates catchy, heavy music. While the influence of classic bands like Black Sabbath, Mountain and Thin Lizzy is obvious in their studio releases and live shows, the band also pulls heavily from bands like Red Fang, Clutch and Mastodon.
Another night of rock follows on Feb. 23rd with 70 in a Skool Zone. The music begins at 9pm. Prepare to get loud with this local guitar-toting group.
Peter King fronts the “Neon Rain ‘90s Country Dance” on Feb. 24th at 9pm. The Dead Yellers’ frontman gears his original lyrics around the human condition, love, war and self-control. His originals tell the story of honest, blue collar life in a small town. King’s influences range from the lonesome classic country sound to that of a DIY punk rock group.
Taking the stage Feb. 25th is Jazz Cabbage at 9pm. New to the local scene, the jazz-funk fusion ensemble puts on one helluva show. Come check them out!
