Family favorites light up Ellen big screen in Downtown Bozeman
Some fantastic silver screen-ings are happening behind the historic Ellen Theatre’s brand new marquee in Downtown Bozeman. Here’s a look at what’s happening on Main.
In celebration of Monty Python’s 50th Anniversary, a special sing-along screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail will take place Saturday, November 2nd, at 7:30pm. This 1975 British cult classic is widely considered to be one of the funniest films ever made. Parodying the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, this charming and hilarious comedy follows their quest for the Holy Grail as they face a number of absurd obstacles including a three-headed knight, group of rude Frenchmen, killer rabbit, and shortage of horses who have been replaced by coconut-clopping servants. This screening will include subtitles for the sing-along. All seats are $5.
Catch a matinee screening of football classic Rudy on Sunday, November 3rd at 3pm. Rudy Ruettiger (Sean Astin) wants to play football at the University of Notre Dame, but has neither the money for tuition nor the grades to qualify for a scholarship. Rudy redoubles his efforts to get out of the steel mill where his father works when his best friend (Christopher Reed) dies in an accident there. Overcoming his dyslexia thanks to his friend and tutor, D-Bob (Jon Favreau), Rudy gains admission to Notre Dame and begins to fight his way onto the school’s fabled football team. Tickets are only $4 at the door.
Another family film comes to the Ellen at 3pm on Sunday, November 17th – Newsies! Starring Christian Bale, this Disney classic tells the true story of an 1899 strike by newspaper boys who organized a union to protect their rights and ensure fair wages.
