Experience A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Willson
Montana Ballet Company, under the Direction of Elizabeth DeFanti, is delighted to announce the Bozeman premiere of A Midsummer Night’s Dream ~ the Ballet, inspired by the famous William Shakespeare play and set to Felix Mendelssohn’s exquisite musical score. Performances will take place Saturday, February 22nd at 7pm, and Sunday, February 23rd at 4pm. Both will be held at the Willson Auditorium.
MBC’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream was originally created in 1989 for Festival Ballet Providence by esteemed ballerina and choreographer, Christine Hennessy.
Noted Deb Nash, dance critic for the RI Dance Alliance in 2003: “Prepare to wear out your hands clapping at Festival Ballet’s best concert yet. FB has put together a delicious confection of Midsummer Night’s Dream using Christine Hennessy’s lovely convoluted intelligent choreography re-staged to perfection by her daughter Elizabeth DeFanti… a masterpiece.”
Audiences will amaze at the conveying of Shakespeare’s comedy through dance. Replete with love, magic, fairies and mortals, this ballet will highlight the talents and artistry of a superb cast of MBC dancers, extraordinary guest artists, Rachel Van Buskirk and Christian Clark from Atlanta’s Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre, and an outstanding orchestra conducted by MBC Music Director, Stefan Stern. Breathtaking costumes and visuals will bring this Midsummer to life and enchant all audiences.
