Land and Water Stewardship for Locals: Speaker Series
January 21 @ 5:00pm
Land and Water Stewardship for Locals Speaker Series. This is a four month long series dedicated to landowners and realtors who are looking to expand their knowledge about our natural resources here in MT and how to properly manage them. These talks are FREE and open to the public.
This evenings topic of conversation includes, Starting and Expanding in Agriculture: Hear from Local Farmers and Ranchers in Southwest MT!
Join Madison Nixon with NRCS, as well as local producers Sherwin Leep, Christian La Bar, and 2022 Leopold Award winners Meaghan and Pete Lannan, to hear how they began, grew, and continue their operations. Other topics of discussion include:
– How to expand ranching operations in the face of high land costs: leasing land, custom farming, and grazing.
– How to connect farmers with cropland to farmers with livestock.
– Why intensive grazing management works.
– Resources in the county that are available to farmers and ranchers.
The event is FREE and will be held at the Gallatin Gateway Community Center located at 145 Mill Street, Gallatin Gateway, MT from 5pm-6:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there.
