Collage and Assemblage: Exploring the Boundaries of Art and Meaning (Pre-reg Rqrd)

Cut it up, piece it together, and create something entirely new. In this three-week online course hosted by MSU Academic Technology and Outreach, you’ll experiment with collage as a powerful tool for creative expression that challenges traditional notions of art and meaning.
Through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on projects, you will explore the history, techniques, and theoretical underpinnings of collage and assemblage. In each session, you’ll get inspired by studying and interpreting collage works from artists past and present. Then, you’ll learn new techniques with a brief demonstration. Finally, you’ll have some time to develop your own collage and assemblage pieces through guided projects.
This course is held entirely online with live sessions meeting over Webex every Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. MDT.
Whether you’re a beginner who is curious about collage or a practicing artist looking to expand or refresh your creative practice, we hope you’ll join us! No prior experience is necessary.
