Winter’s unrelenting elements are no match for the outdoor performance space at Bozeman Hot Springs. The venue features a poolside stage with weekly showcases of regional and traveling acts every Thursday and Sunday at 7pm. Enjoy the area’s best musicians this month.
Next to perform is Peter King on January 2nd. The Dead Yellers’ frontman gears his original lyrics around the human condition, love, war and self-control. His originals tell the story of honest, blue collar life in a small town. King’s influences range from the lonesome classic country sound to that of a DIY punk rock group.
Check out the Savvy Duo on Jan. 5th. The rowdy four-piece is known for their rock covers from every era of music. For this set, band members Kristin (guitar/vox) and Adam (drums) will be breaking things down a little for a calmer (though still rockin’) acoustic set.
Following on Jan. 9th, enjoy a show by the Max Davies Trio. Guitarist of the incredible cosmic bluegrass group Kitchen Dwellers, Davies is playing a laid back acoustic set featuring songs from the band and covers. He’ll be joined on stage by local musicians Jeff Purcell (mandolin) and Tyler Schultz (guitar).
Settle in for Trio Grandio on Jan. 12th. Featuring members of the always-incredible local Grateful Dead tribute Dead Sky, this arrangement brings the full band’s sound down for a more laid-back setting. The trio will provide an incredible tribute to one of rock’s most legendary bands, creating a perfect show for Dead Heads and casual fans alike.
Take in a set by the King Ropes Duo on Jan. 16th. Deemed as “psychedelic hard country garage roots rock,” King Ropes spans a wide variety of genres with their atmospheric guitar, groovy drum beats, and rock vocals with a little bit of twang. Their sound has been compared to that of The Pixies and Wilco.
Lena “Laney Lou” Schiffer joins the Last Revel’s Ryan Acker for a Jan. 19th performance showcasing their side project, The Canoe Dealers. The duo fronts a unique folk experience featuring vocal harmonies, banjo, and acoustic guitar with impressive songwriting to boot.
Kennan Krause performs on Jan. 23rd. Frontman of local rock group Lost Canyons, Krause delivers a unique alt-rock sound. He plays a healthy mix of recognizable covers and original tunes from the full band’s shows.
Prepare for an evening with the Pinky Trio, tuning up the audience on Jan. 26th. Dustin Tucker, Luke Flansburg and Tyler Schultz bring the full band’s energy to this toned-down but still hugely entertaining set. The show will feature everything from acoustic Pink Floyd covers to originals, among other selections.
Closing out the month on Jan. 30th is Taylor Burlage. Frontman of one of Bozeman’s favorite rock groups, The Dead & Down, Burlage plays a mix of originals and classic folk-rock covers, combining his vocals with multiple guitars.
