Verge gifts local audiences with side-splitting satire, Monday night Improv
Burrr is right! Head indoors and warm up with some fantastic stage entertainment at Verge Theater. Here’s a look at what’s happening at “The Little Black Box on the Edge (of Bozeman).”
Tim Sniffen’s hysterical Death of a Streetcar Named Virginia Woolf: A Parody is set for a December 12th opening, bringing some favorite bigger-than-life characters together in one show. Based on the story by Tim Ryder, Sniffen and The Second City, Peggy Jensen directs the local staging that will have audiences laughing long after final curtain.
When a mysterious invitation brings Blanche DuBois back to New Orleans, she finds herself once again face-to-face with the smoldering Stanley Kowalski. They are soon joined by luckless salesman Willy Loman and hard-drinking, hard-fighting couple George and Martha, and suddenly all bets are off.
This deliciously satirical mash-up of A Streetcar Named Desire, Death of a Salesman, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Our Town is a tongue-in-cheek salute to celebrated icons of American drama. Death of a Streetcar asks the intriguing question: What happens when the most recognizable characters from some of the greatest American plays of the 20th century suddenly find themselves sharing the same stage?
Opening December 12th, performances of Death of a Streetcar Named Virginia Woolf will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm. Sunday matinees will follow at 3pm through Dec. 22nd. Tickets are $19. Ages 17+.
And as always, belly up to the all-you-can-eat comedy buffet with Improv on the Verge! They pair the fun and energy of short-form games (like you see on the popular tv show Whose Line Is It Anyway?) with long-form scenes in which they create hilarious characters and storylines on the spot. Head down for a new, fun-filled show twice monthly. Cheap thrills for your laugh hole! An upcoming show is set for December 16th at 7pm. Tickets are $9. Ages 17+.
