On Saturday, June 18th, BFS presents a night of Cool Jazz featuring a wildly entertaining and moving exploration of one of 20th century music’s creative geniuses, Miles Davis.
A collaboration with the Montana Jazz Collective, the evening opens with a 50-minute live performance of Davis’s definitive jazz album, Kind of Blue. Featuring many of Bozemans’ hottest musicians, the Montana Jazz Collective includes Luca Rodoni on trumpet, Ryan Matzinger on alto sax, Sam White on tenor sax, Bob Nell on piano, Craig Hall on bass, and Adam Greenberg on drums.
The music starts at 7:00 pm, followed by bio-pic, Miles Ahead, at 8:30 pm. With a career defining performance by Oscar nominee Don Cheadle (in his directorial debut) the film is an impressionistic blending of timelines, as well as fact and fiction, that taps the soul of a brilliant, radical and at times tortured artist. Rated R. 98 minutes.
Tickets: $15/GA; $13.50/ST&SR (plus fees.) Two pass punches required for BFS members and sponsors.
Tickets for the film only portion of the evening will be available day of show at the door starting at 7:15 PM. Tickets for film only: $8.75/GA; $8.50/SR&ST (plus fees.)
