Though we’re still enjoying the warmth of the great outdoors, many of us are looking for reprieve from the smoky skies. Plan a weekend trip to Chico Hot Springs for a chance to soak the joints, feast on some delicious grub and enjoy live music in the Saloon. Here’s what’s coming up this month.
The Tamela Hauer Band are set for August 9th and 10th. The frontwoman is a country pop singer/songwriter who plays a mix of audience favorite country, pop and rock covers. She also writes and performs her own original country pop music that’s both upbeat and catchy, inspired by her love of music and dancing with familial themes.
On August 16th and 17th, Gary Small & the Coyote Brothers return to the Saloon with back-to-back performances. If you love blues, rockabilly, surf, and plain ole good times music, then you’re in the right place – they’re known as “Purveyors of Good Boogie Music.” The Coyote Bros are a diverse band defined by its rockabilly, blues, cajun, surf, reggae, and anything else they deem cool.
Chico gears up for the return of its Annual Neighborhood Block Party featuring www.TWANG on Sunday, August 18th. The BBQ, beer and refreshments will be ready to order before the show, followed by the music and street dance at 6pm. The truck drivin’, heart breakin’, honky-tonk dance band has been offering up real country music to their fans for decades. These guys take no prisoners and leave nothing but happy dancers in their wake. Don’t miss their “real deal, premium country music” show!
Following with a pair of shows is BlackWater Band on August 23rd and 24th. The rock n’ roll variety group will have you off your feet and on the dance floor in no time, so take a swig of your preferred flavor and get that liquid motivation flowing.
Ian Thomas & Band of Drifters are back August 30th and 31st. The group plays modern American roots music and encourage audiences to dance. Based mostly in Montana and Tennessee, the band also includes players from all over the country, keeping the music varied in arrangement, instrumentation and regional influences. The Drifters’ sets draw from country, folk and blues traditions with an emphasis on original songs, done in the old style.
Live Saloon music begins at 9pm, unless otherwise noted. Chico Hot Springs is located in Pray, 20 miles south of Livingston. For more information, visit www.chicohotsprings.com. •
