Yoga for All continues Tuesdays in February with upcoming dates the 16th, 23rd and March 1st. The classes are held from 11-1:45am and 12-12:45pm in the Large Community Room. The morning class is taught by accomplished yoga instructor Karen Averitt and the noon class by local mom and yoga instructor Jen DuCharme. The weekly classes are for moms, dads, or caregivers who like to bring their baby or babies or for anyone in the community who wishes to attend. The morning class tends to have more kids, following Books & Babies, but all are welcome to either class. Please bring your own mat. A new exhibit of paintings by Livingston, Montana, artist Sheila Hrasky will be on display in the Atrium Gallery through February 29th, kicking off the Library’s 2016 Artist’s Series. A plein air and studio painter, Hrasky has been focused on taking a subject, whether a landscape or a life figure, and then deconstructing, reshaping and re-contextualizing it through classic shapes of musical instruments, expressing light, energy and motion. Inspired by Kandinsky and Picasso’s cubist style, music has become a very important part of Hrasky’s recent work. “The biggest reward is watching the work unfold,” she says, “Day after day I push myself as a painter to create new images. Developing my own way of painting has taken many years to refine.” The exhibition will be on display during Library hours. A percentage of sales will go to the Foundation to ensure continuation of cultural programs at the Library for public benefit. For more information about the exhibit or opening reception, please call Sarah DeOpsomer at 582-2425 or e-mail programs@bozemanlibraryfoundation. Call for Artists announced. The Bozeman Public Library Foundation is seeking submissions for its 2017 Atrium Gallery Exhibition Series. The Atrium Gallery located in the Library lobby will showcase both traditional and innovative contemporary art forms, as well as the work of both established and emerging artists of our region. The Library’s primary objective is to feature exhibitions that will expand public appreciation of art and reflect the diversity of the community. Selections will be made by the Library Art Committee, which is made up of local artists, community members, Library Foundation, and Library staff. Each exhibit will run for one to three months, determined by the committee. The Bozeman Public Library is committed to promoting the visual and aesthetic enhancement of the Bozeman community through this ongoing presentation of rotating exhibits of public art in the Library. Proposals must be received by April 30th. Incomplete or late proposals will not be considered. For complete description of the program and guidelines, visit bozemanlibrary.org/about/art.php.
