Charlie Parr highlights Rialto’s year-end calendar with Dead Horses-assisted show
A grueling day of last-minute holiday shopping calls for a nice cocktail and a show! Downtown Bozeman’s Rialto features the perfect happy hour spot and fantastic live entertainment for locals and visiting guests. Here’s a look at some of the upcoming happenings.
Lauded folk blues artist Charlie Parr is back in Bozeman on Wednesday, December 18th. Fellow folksters Dead Horses, a duo out of Milwaukee, will open the show at 8pm. Advance tickets to this all-ages show are $15. Doors at 7pm.

Charlie Parr
Parr returns to Bozeman on the heels of his fall album release. The eponymous collection features new songs and new studio versions of classics/audience favorites from throughout his career. The album is an honest and raw recording of Charlie reflecting on himself and his career up to this point. It’s a musical reckoning that came after a freak accident less than a year ago that forced him to relearn how to play guitar, causing him to take stock of the songs he’s written over his lifetime. Charlie Parr is a stunning folk record that will surely stand the test of time, just like the man himself.
Following on Friday, December 20th is Missoula’s high on you. Arswain, a conceptual electronic project out of Los Angeles, will open at 9pm. This all-ages show is FREE of admission. Doors at 8pm.
high on you. makes experimental pop music with a hip-hop flair. He creates both sad, slower music as well as more joyful, fast-paced tunes. He’s followed last winter’s Seasons LP with a number of singles, including this month’s “Focus, Pt. 2.”
Local ten-piece Left on Tenth will front the “20/20 Back to the Future New Year’s Eve” on Tuesday, December 31st. Bozeman rock band Armless Statues will get the music started at 9pm. Advance tickets to this all-ages show are $15. Doors at 8pm.
Left on Tenth blends elements of funk, reggae, jazz, hip-hop, rock n’ roll, blues, and everything in between. Citing influences like Sublime, The Wailers, Toots and the Maytals, Jimi Hendrix, and Fat Freddy’s Drop, they create original music interspersed with the occasional cover tune. With danceable energetic vibes, the audience participation has as much an impact on the show as the band itself. Read the BoZone’s interview with Left on Tenth at BoZone.com.
Looking to the new year, Yonder Mountain String Band return to the Rialto on Friday, January 10th, just under a year after their last appearance at the downtown venue. The music starts at 8pm. Advance tickets to this all-ages show range $37.50 to $45. Doors at 7pm.
The Colorado-based progressive bluegrass outfit’s latest album, Love. Ain’t Love, is their most surprising, creative, and yes, energetic studio excursion to date. Songs like “Chasing My Tail” and “Alison” are rooted in tradition but as current as tomorrow, animated by electrifying performance, vivid production, and the modernist power that has made Yonder one of the most popular live bands of their generation. Melding sophisticated songcraft, irrepressible spirit, and remarkable instrumental ability, Love. Ain’t Love is a testament to Yonder’s organic, dynamic, and intensely personal brand of contemporary bluegrass-fueled Americana.
And a preview of what’s to come… the introductory month to 2020 will feature Rialto shows by Shooter Jennings, Justin Townes Earle, Zion I, Led Zeppelin tribute Zoso and The Motet. Stay tuned for details.
