Join for a public Juneteenth Celebration at Tinworks Art on Friday, June 19th, in collaboration with Cultured Roots, MSU Black Student Union, MSU Student Commons, Bozeman Poetry Collective, and Studio Wheelhouse.
Meet your neighbors, learn about this holiday honoring Black freedom, resilience and community, and enjoy some art! This event will feature live music, food, storytelling, and community resources. Eats from Provecho will be available for purchase at the event. A limited number of meal vouchers are available for community members in need, and can be picked up at Cultured Roots, VIP Barber Lounge, and MSU Student Commons (students only). Contact these groups for more information.

Attendees are also encouraged to view Tinworks’ new free art exhibition entitled Chisel & Razor: The Artistic Legacies of Edmonia & Samuel Lewis. This show features newly commissioned work by Edgar Arceneaux as well as Terry Adkins, Sonya Clark, Maud Sulter, and Nate Young in response to the lives of Edmonia Lewis, the first internationally acclaimed Black and Anishinaabe sculptor, and that of her brother, Samuel W. Lewis – an early Bozeman-based citizen, performer, entrepreneur, barber, and community leader who was central to Edmonia’s success.
Tinworks is the place where art meets the American West. The project brings together artists, their work and community in evolving spaces. Located at 719 N Ida, more information can be found at www.tinworksart.org. •
