The Sperry Award was started in 1982 to commemorate our community’s love and admiration for one of its late, great, special people – Mr. Guy Sperry (1913-1981). Guy served Bozeman faithfully and uniquely for 20 years as Chamber Executive and in the process gained the respect of his peers statewide.
Those of us who knew Guy were privileged to have “shared some space” with a delightful, truly Western character who in many ways symbolized what Bozeman is all about. Guy was extremely active in the community as well as with his Chamber job, and was, therefore, emblematic of the characteristics which we admire in those people in our community who are always there……..giving more than is asked for…..giving more than is required.
