Baroque Music Montana will present “Amoris Domicilium: A Montana Vespers” with a special local performance this month as part of its regional tour. It will take place Sunday, September 15th, at Bozeman’s Peace of Christ Community Church. The intimate showcase begins at 4pm.
Kerll’s lyrical mass and Cazzati’s extroverted Magnificat bookend a joyous, mystical contemplation by Buxtehude, as four wonderful singers join the instrumentalists of BaMM in a program that balances spiritual ecstasy, baroque virtuosity and emotional intimacy in music intended to delight, comfort, inspire and restore. Featured artists include Andrea Zomorodian (soprano), Sylvia Leith (mezzo), Steven Soph (tenor) and Edmund Milly (bass). Also performing are Carrie Krause and Manami Mizumoto (baroque violin), Adaiha MacAdams-Somer (baroque cello) and John Lenti (theorbo).
Admission for the Bozeman performance is $30 general or $5 for students. Additional performances will precede in Red Lodge, Billings, Helena and Jeffers, Sept. 11th–14th. Ticketing information for the local concert, as well as other regional performances, is available at www.baroquemusicmontana.com.
Baroque Music Montana specializes in chamber music inspired by history. The musician roster rotates based on desired instrumentation for repertoire. Concerts are held in intimate spaces, for which the music was originally intended, and often on period instruments. Using historical instruments and referencing original manuscripts, iconography and historical writing fuels Baroque Music Montana’s commitment to the music and inspires fresh interpretation. Rather than recreating something old, the aim is to make each performance of this day, of this space, existing because of these musicians and this audience. •
