The Bozeman Public Library offers more than just a vast selection of books, periodicals, and movies to its many pass-holders. The staff is excited to host a number of live music and other events throughout the month. So when you’re not getting lost in the stacks, come check out one of these fun events at your community sponsored Library.
Join the Library Foundation and Wonderlust for the next Friday Forum on Friday, April 8th from 12-1:30pm in the Bozeman Public Library’s large community room. Earlier in the year, attendees learned about inevitable growth in the Gallatin Valley, followed the next month by Bozeman’s mayor and deputy mayor talking about the City’s priorities. This month, you’ll hear from Gallatin County’s Transportation Planner, Sean O’Callaghan, discussing the pressing issues facing the County’s infrastructure, plans for growth, and coordination efforts with the City. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session, so please bring your questions and concerns. Friday Forum is a monthly speaker series sponsored by Wonderlust, a non-profit organization dedicated to life-long learning, and hosted by the Bozeman Library Foundation.
On Wednesday, April 13th at 7pm, the Gallatin Art Crossing lecture series continues with “Edible Art” in the Bozeman Public Library large community room. Learn the interesting intersection between art and food with a panel of chefs and artists. The discussion is sponsored by Feast, hosted by the Bozeman Library Foundation. For more information, visit gallatinartcrossing.com/. Enjoy coffee and treats and sign up for Bozeman Clean-Up Day in the large community room at the Library during an Earth Day Opening on Saturday, April 23rd beginning at 8am. Mayor Carson will welcome the community at 8:30am and introduce the new “Here’s What’s Happening” neighborhood kits so every day can be clean-up day! For more info, please visit bozeman.net/CleanUpDay or call Jessica Johnson at 582-2274.
Yoga for All continues Tuesdays in April with upcoming dates the 5th & 12th. The classes are held from 11-1:45am and 12-12:45pm in the Large Community Room. The morning class is taught by accomplished yoga instructor Karen Averitt and the noon class by local mom and yoga instructor Jen DuCharme. The weekly classes are for moms, dads, or caregivers who like to bring their baby or babies or for anyone in the community who wishes to attend. The morning class tends to have more kids, following Books & Babies, but all are welcome to either class. Please bring your own mat. A Call for Artists has been announced. The Bozeman Public Library Foundation is seeking submissions for its 2017 Atrium Gallery Exhibition Series. The Atrium Gallery located in the Library lobby will showcase both traditional and innovative contemporary art forms, as well as the work of both established and emerging artists of our region. The Library’s primary objective is to feature exhibitions that will expand public appreciation of art and reflect the diversity of the community. Selections will be made by the Library Art Committee, which is made up of local artists, community members, Library Foundation, and Library staff. Each exhibit will run for one to three months, determined by the committee. The Bozeman Public Library is committed to promoting the visual and aesthetic enhancement of the Bozeman community through this ongoing presentation of rotating exhibits of public art in the Library. Proposals must be received by April 30th. Incomplete or late proposals will not be considered. For complete description of the program and guidelines, visit bozemanlibrary.org/about/art.php.
