‘All You Need is Love!’ Valentine’s Day comes to Bozeman

With so much hostility littering today’s headlines and social media feeds, it seems just the right time for a little LOVE. Valentine’s Day is but a fortnight away with several area venues playing host to romantic events sure to win over the most resolute naysayers. Here’s a look at some of the fun in and around Bozeman.
Earn your box of chocolates ahead of the big day! The 2019 Love ‘em or Leave ‘em 5K is set for Saturday, February 9th, beginning and ending at the Filling Station. Day of registration and packet pickup opens at 9am, with the race set to begin at 10:30am. The annual event offers something for everyone. Skip the red roses, cards, and candy – all racers will receive a long sleeve, tech t-shirt with race logo, chili, sandwiches, cider, and a beer or hot chocolate ticket. Following the race, join in for a social gathering, award ceremony including ski lift tickets and Valentine’s Day prizes, live music from the SlomoJoe Trio, food and refreshments. The race is $30 for individuals and $50 for couples. Proceeds benefit Bozeman Summit School. Registration and further information can be found at www.loveorleave.weebly.com.
Later on Feb. 9th, Bozeman Folklore Society celebrates with a Valentine’s Day Family & Contra Dance at the Bozeman Senior Center. The family portion will begin at 5:30pm with callers Robyn Lauster and Marty Albini, then stay for a potluck dinner at 6:30pm. The Contra Dance follows a 30-minute warm-up dance lesson at 7:30pm. Lauster will call and live music will be provided by Homegrown String Band. Families, singles and couples are welcome. Family Dance admission is $15 per. Admission to just the Contra Dance is $10, $8 for members, and $5 for students. Please bring clean, grit-free, non-marking shoes to protect the floor.
