‘70s soul gets modern twist, plus a jazz throwback on 11th & Grant
MontanaPBS will showcase local talent modern and vintage with new year episodes of 11th & Grant with Eric Funk, its signature music series. The encore airings will showcase Bozeman favorites Paige & the People’s Band and Helena jazz foursome Vanguard.
Airing at 7pm on Saturday, January 14th, genre-bending ensemble Paige & the People take center stage. Horn-powered and vocally charged, the group is a mainstay in the Montana music scene, showcasing the sound of 70s soul with a modern twist. The backup vocalists and horn section bring groups like Cold Blood or Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings to mind, but with a contemporary feel. The episode will also air on Saturday, Jan. 16th at 10:10pm.
Following at 7pm on Thursday, January 28th, Helena jazz group Vanguard was featured in an early episode of 11th & Grant’s debut season. The Helena quartet plays with a smooth honesty and intention that sets them apart. All Montana natives, their pure joy of performing original tunes and other arrangements is truly evident from the “standard repertoire” to the “favorites” of jazz music fans. The episode will air once more on Saturday, Jan. 30th at 9:40pm.
11th & Grant with Eric Funk is the premier outlet for music performance in Montana, seeking out the state’s most acclaimed, accomplished, and pioneering talent.
