The Children’s Museum is thrilled to introduce our new fall fundraiser to the Bozeman community. We invite you to join us for a night at the museum; we’re calling it Family Bingo Night, but it’s so much more than that!
We’ll kick the evening off with a corn hole tournament, and we’ll have Bingo with great prizes all night long, face painting, food trucks, and a beer and wine bar. We have some absolutely incredible silent auction items this year, including: an aerial photography flight over the Gallatin Valley with Kestrel Aerial; a running package with guaranteed entry to the Ridge Run, new trail shoes, and before and after acupuncture; and a private happy hour STEAMlab rental for your business or friends! We’ll also be auctioning off a ski package with a lesson from a member of the BSF Elite team, two pro ski tune-ups from Chalet sports, and a 10X Bridger Bowl ski pass.
You’ll also get a chance to explore our new exhibit – the Augmented Reality Sandbox! The AR Sandbox uses a computer projector and a motion-sensing input device (Kinect) mounted above a tabletop sandbox. As visitors dig and mold the sand, the Kinect perceives ongoing changes in the distance, and projects an elevation model with contour lines and a color map onto the sand surface. We received incredible feedback from our community this spring in support of bringing this hands-on learning tool to the museum, and with your continued support we can further develop and expand our permanent exhibit collection and our calendar of programs. Tell us what you want to see!
October has four PIR days, and we’ve got you covered! Visit cmbozeman.org/programs/ and scroll down to learn more about the STEAMlab camps and Family Science enrichment activities we’re planning. All of our Family Science Days are free with membership or admission! On October 2nd we’ll be hosting Intermountain Therapy Dogs for Canine Storytime, and on the 3rd our 4-H friends from Manhattan are bringing some of their favorite farm animals to the museum for us to meet! On October 19th the Raptor Conservation Center will bring a feathered ambassador to teach us more about our high-flying friends, and finally on the 20th we’ll be celebrating the wonderful world of Eric Carle with crafts and family activities.
CMB is a lean organization, and more than 85% of the money we earn or raise is used to directly fund our programs, exhibits and services. We’re committed to reaching as many children as possible with high-quality educational enrichment activities – and your support is vital to that mission. For the coming year, we’ll continue our efforts to develop new exhibits, elevate the visitor experience, and promote accessible, family-based education. Join our family!
