While Spring is taking it’s good ole’ time, Summer is fast approaching! Along with beautiful weather and outstanding nature, the blessings of Montana come fully forward. Nestled right in the heart of Summer is the 6th Annual SLAM Festival, August 6th & 7th in Bogert Park, heralding in the creativity of inspired citizens.
Yes indeed, we have an outstanding creative community! Musicians, painters, jewelry makers, glass blowers, wordsmiths, and all others smitten with an artistic urge, showcase their talents and offer handmade inspired art for sale at SLAM.
One of the unique attributes of the SLAM festival are live artist demonstrations. While most of us have an appreciation for the fine products available at SLAM, the live demonstrations allow the time and opportunity to travel with the artists through their creative process, and gain a more in-depth perspective of what is REALLY involved in the pathway to the final product. The first Bogert Farmers Market of each month will host a SLAM artist demonstration, and throughout the weekend of SLAM, you’ll have the opportunity to observe artistic masters in action as they present their craft. The lineup of demonstrations this year is sure to please, with a variety of artistic styles and mediums for you to learn about, and enthusiastic artists to connect with. We’ve got batik silk, bronze sculpting, wheel thrown ceramics, glass blowing, cyanotype photography, and guitar making, just to name a few. A full schedule of artists and their demonstrations will be available on the SLAM website at www.slamfestivals.org.
The goal and true purpose of the demonstration tent has always been to connect artists to the community, to create an opportunity to meet, ask questions and observe the diversity of art, and to inspire, motivate, or tickle, if you will, the creative urge in everyone. We hope you’ll make time to attend these magical demonstrations! Many of the demonstrating artists teach classes locally, and after immersing yourself in their creative process, you just might feel compelled to explore your own artistic side! With all the SLAM festival has to offer (an artists market, delicious culinary creations, two full days of musical, dance, and theatrical performances, family activities, and a Montana libations garden), this free family event will keep you entertained all weekend long, and is the perfect place to soak in the creativity of your local Montana community.
SLAM artist demonstrations at the Bogert Farmer’s Market will be June 7th, July 5th, August 2nd, and Sept 6th.
We’ll see you this August 6th & 7th at Bogert Park for the SLAM festival.
SLAM ON!!
