November brings shorter days and longer nights and a desire to find comfort, connection and warmth in our lives. The holiday season will soon be upon us and thoughts turn to traditional wintery activities. Norris Hot Springs offers a unique opportunity to soak in healing and soothing hot water after a day of hiking or cross country skiing or even shopping. The No Loose Dogs Café is serving hot soups and delicious blue plate specials perfect for those cold early winter nights using their fabulous garden grown greens, garlic, tomatoes, carrots and so much more. The garden’s bounty was picked at it’s peak and preserved for use to get all of us through the winter with delicious organic offerings.
While enjoying a soak, a hot meal and a libation, why not check out some of the live music offerings Norris presents every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7 PM? Many venues shut down outside music in the fall and winter – not Norris Hot Springs! Where else can you soak in the Water of the Gods while enjoying the previously mentioned meals and libations and listen to the best in regional acoustic music in a historic wooden pool?
Get the music started on Friday, November 4th with Chad Ball. Chad returns to the Poolside Stage doing a mixture of acoustic Folk/Blues with catchy storytelling melodies. From Butte, he has a strong influence from 70’s folk/rock. Listen to some of his music here – www.chadballmusic.com. Next up, on Saturday, November 5th is
Mathias. Singer-songwriter Mathias has been playing music under the big sky of Montana for nearly two decades now. With powerful vocals and a percussive guitar style, he is known for his dynamic live performances. In 2010 Mathias headed into the studio with Emmy Award-winning producer Jeremiah Slovarp culminating in the release of his debut album Walk Alone. The following year he spent several months performing nightly for international audiences on the popular resort island of Koh Tao in Thailand. 2013 began with a return to Southeast Asia, this time playing in a wide range of locales from the megacities of Hong Kong and Jakarta to the quaint backpacker haunts of Chiang Mai and Siem Reap. https://www.reverbnation.com/mathiasmusic. Rounding out the first weekend on Sunday, November 6th is Walcrik. This popular folk/bluegrass duo plays original, traditional and cover music. On Friday, November 11th, Norris welcomes Dunnagan and Koukov.
Alex Koukov (banjo and guitar) and Bridger Dunnagan (guitar and fiddle) are a Bozeman based musical duo. Indie-folk originals, covers and composed instrumentals provide listeners with a broad spectrum of aural escapades. Taking the stage on Saturday, November 12th is Neil Filo Beddow. Neil plays original folk rock for the soul, and describes his guitar style as the West Dakota stutter – his lyrically scrambled iambic pentameter can be politically bent, spiritually seeking, tongue in cheek humorous with just a twist of serious. A sampling of music can be found on https://soundcloud.com/neil-filo-beddow. Or you can watch here:

On Sunday, November 13th, please join Ian Thomas. Part of the popular Bus Driver Tour, Norris is happy to welcome Ian for a solo set. Performing both solo and with a band, Thomas draws on a variety of American roots influences, delivering a captivating raw live performance and distinctive sound from his original compositions on guitar, harmonica and kazoo.
