Montana Shakespeare in the Parks and Intermountain Opera Bozeman to co-produce My Fair Lady, February 2016.
Montana Shakespeare in the Parks (MSIP) and Intermountain Opera Bozeman (IOB) are teaming up once again to bring a professional musical theatre experience to the Gallatin Valley. Following last winter’s success with Man of La Mancha, MSIP and IOB will co-produce Lerner and Loewe’s beloved musical, My Fair Lady. The musical’s 1956 Broadway premiere set the record for the longest run of any major musical in history and has been called ‘the perfect musical’. MSIP’s Kevin Asselin will direct the production with musical supervision by IOB’s Linda Curtis. The cast will star New York-based Harry Bouvy and Sarah Stevens as Higgins and Eliza with Oregon Shakespeare favorite Robert Frank as Doolittle. Local favorites will round out the cast. Man of La Mancha’s design team of Matthew McCarren (set), Claudia Boddy (costumes), and Stacy Hostetter (props) returns with the addition of the Black Box Theater’s own Thomas Delgado (lights).
My Fair Lady will play in the intimate Black Box Theater on the MSU campus at 11th and Grant, opening Friday, February 12. Thereafter, performances will be held Thursday – Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. through February 28. A very special gala preview performance will be held Wednesday, February 10.
