Heroes and Horses ‘Welcome Home’ & Give Big launch party
Heroes and Horses, a nonprofit 501c3, is a three-phase re-integration program that uses the remote wilderness and the horse/human connection to challenge and inspire personal growth in veterans. In late March, Heroes and Horses — headed by Navy SEAL and combat veteran Micah Fink — embarked on a 500-mile horse packing journey on wild mustangs. Following three months of a rigorous gentling process, the crew set off for this epic ride through New Mexico and Arizona.
The hope is to integrate these animals into the Heroes and Horses herd and utilize them in the 2017 program beginning in June. The horses will be paired with the program’s 16 combat veterans searching for clarity and purpose. The 500 Miles project will be documenting the amazing progression of these horses as they transition into their new lives — and find a new purpose while helping those striving to do the same. After 30 days, 500+ miles, and plenty of adventure, Heroes and Horses invites the public to join in welcoming the team home at Outlaw Brewing on Thursday, May 4th from 5:30–8pm.
The evening will be filled with stories on the trail, good laughs, and a great opportunity to give and get involved with the Heroes and Horses mission. The “Welcome Home” party will be paired with the Give Big launch. Give Big Gallatin Valley is a 24-hour online and live celebration of giving created by the Bozeman Area Community Foundation to connect people who care to the causes they care about in an effort to build a better community. And don’t forget to come to Outlaw Brewing for a night to remember! “We are not defined by our many scars, but by what we do when the wound closes.” – Micah Fink, Executive Director, Heroes and Horses Learn more about this organization and 500 Miles at www.heroesandhorses.org. #NotAVacation •
