Though most commonly associated with summertime adventures, Yellowstone National Park invites residents and visitors to its winter lodges – Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and Old Faithful Snow Lodge – for an off-season escape. These cozy bases allow access to recreational touring, outdoor photography sessions, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, among other activities. And this winter, Yellowstone is also offering various art and cuisine-focused events to accompany guests’ daytime outings.
Inspired by Yellowstone Artist Workshops
This winter, the Park will host a number of local talents including artist DG House (January 6th, 22nd and February 8th); outdoor photographer Tom Murphy (February 29th); as well as Paul and Patricia Gates of Yellowstone Agate Jewelry (January 25th and February 22nd) visiting Mammoth Hotel to lead workshops in their respective mediums. Workshops include instruction, materials and lunch in the dining room. In addition to the workshops, Mammoth Hotel will host a meeting and reading session with regional author Pam Houston for her latest work, Deep Creek: Finding Hope in the High Country (January 21st at Mammoth, January 23rd at Old Faithful).
Specialty Dining Events
Mammoth Hotel Dining Room will again be offering special dining events. The January 17th Brewmasters Dinner will feature beers from Mountains Walking of Bozeman. There will also be an opportunity to sample local spirits with a tasting event fronted by Coram-based Glacier Distilling on February 12th. At Old Faithful on February 14th, Valentine’s Day, guests are invited to sample a variety of wines from Ste. Michelle Wine Estates at the Wine Tasting with Tapas event. And back at Mammoth on February 21st, Yellowstone presents the International Market, offering four buffet tables serving delectables from across the globe and the local Yellowstone region.
